Speaker kit

Data, AI and African storytelling, from someone building in both.

I'm a Senior Analytics Engineer at Data Culture and the founder of ToriBOX, Africa's first vertical micro-drama streaming app. I speak to technical audiences about trustworthy data and AI, and to film and creator audiences about building for African storytellers.

Keynotes, panels, workshops and podcasts, in person or virtual.

Long bio

David Effiong is a Senior Analytics Engineer at Data Culture, where he designs data and AI solutions for client teams, from data modelling and warehouse migrations to governed AI analytics agents with evaluation built in. He began his career as a data analyst, built a company's modern data stack as its first data hire, and worked in analytics engineering at Sterling Bank. He was selected for the inaugural dbt Community Champion cohort, co-organises the Lagos dbt Meetup, is Head of Programs at Young Data Professionals, and teaches on his YouTube channel, David Data. David is also the founder of ToriBOX, Africa's first vertical micro-drama streaming app, built for Nollywood and the African diaspora, with more than 3,000 episodes live. Its 2026 launch was featured in BusinessDay. His work in both fields comes back to one idea: infrastructure people can trust, for data teams and for African storytellers. He is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
